Beach Day
I absolutely love the beach. I don't know what I would do if I ever moved to a place that didn't have a beach within (relatively close) driving distance. Back in July, Brian and I decided to go and check out Astoria. After, arriving to our destination we saw the bridge that crosses the Columbia River into Washington. As curiosity grabbed hold of us, we decided to see how long the bridge was. Once on the other side we saw signs for Cape Disappointment and wondered what was so disappointing about Cape Disappointment. We just kept driving towards the Cape until we were distracted by a lighthouse, so of course we stopped to have a look.
I Believe that this one is called the North Point Lighthouse. Anyhow, we continued on our search for the disappointing cape after walking around and pausing to look at the surf. We drove down a little farther where we parked our car and did a small (I suppose an extremely easy hike for you hikers, but was good reminder of how much more I need to work out) hike.
This is the mid point of our hike to Cape Disappointment. It was amazingly warm and sticky for the beach during the evening. We actually made it all the way to Cape Disappointment with a brief pause at Dead Man's Cove, where we ignored the do not enter signs and proceeded to hike down on to the sand. It was a neat little place and secluded. There aren't a lot of stretches of beach that are this private. After looking around there we continued on to the Lighthouse. The only disappointing thing about it was that it looked exactly like the first lighthouse we went to except for a couple of black stripes. Was it really worth the hike? Probably not, but the surrounding scenery was wonderful and the hike was good for post knee surgery out of shape girl.
This picture is from Lewis & Clark's Fort and does the lighthouse more justice than the close up ones (which show how ragged it has become.)

You are never too old to play dress up...
It was then that we decided to try on the clothes that the other one bought. As we were trading shirts and trying on old existing clothes with the new ones we decided that we should put our nice new shirts on with some slacks and our cute shoes and take pictures. What great fun we had. The best part was that I got to spend it with my baby sister :-)

This is me with my loving husband Brian. One of my favorite past times is taking pictures, as I like to record life. So, I drag Brian out as often as possible so that we can take pictures together. What better time than when it has snowed!
This is the first time I have ever created a blog before and I am really excited to share my life with those of you who read this, in particular those close friends and family who live far away from us. Hopefully you all will enjoy reading my thoughts and seeing pictures of our life.
